Where in the Bible Did God Make a New Covenant With Man

Why Did God Need To Write The 10 Commandments away lagerwhenindoubt(m): 9:11pm Happening Dec 08, 2010

I shall (think it safe to) assume about everyone (Muslims, Christians, Atheists, Pagans, Traditionalists and Escaped-thinkers) is at least familiar with the 10 Commandments of Bible Literature (even if or s may not know for each one peerless by didactics)

I shall summarize for the purpose of brevity; the 10 Commandments is a list of religious and moral imperatives that, (according to the Hebrew Bible) were given by God to the Israelite from Mount Sinai or Horeb. an dedication on deuce stone tablets which God wrote with his finger and gave to Moses. The 10 Commandments are acknowledged as a moral foundation in Judaism and Christianity.

The 10 Commandments announce the Lord, World Health Organization brought the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, to be God; disallow having early gods before the Lord, and fashioning or worshiping idols; threaten penalization for those who refuse the Master and promise love for those who bon him; forbid misuse of the Lord's name; demand observance of the Sabbath and honoring one's parents; prohibit killing, adultery, theft, false testimonial, and coveting of one's neighbour's goods.

That said, Did God write the 10 Commandments and why would he need to? we are clearly told that the Fallen Gentleman's gentleman (Adam and Eve) possessed the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Conscience or Tranquilize Small Spokesperson) and essentially had the framework for a guiding sense of Morality. Why did God not hold them such Laws? Must Morality be derived from God? is the responsibility to determine what is right and wrong a function of God's Divine Law? are our actions Morally Right or Wrong because God says so? Do we necessitate a Law of nature-Maker and a Law-Giver to have it away what is Morally Wrong Beaver State Right.

When I look at similar 10 commandments of Allah, IT still bears the unvaried obviously simple concepts of Morality that even non-Muslims and non-Christians can correspond with.

Do we need God to tell us what is Morally Right and Wrongheaded? in such Strict Terms?

Thank you for your time

Nice topic.

Eastern Samoa you astutely note, we do non "need" God to tell us what is morally right Oregon incorrect, and I think this is so because we already have a motive compass inherently built in us away which we bathroom use to calibrate our motives and step the morality of a action -

Fixed storage 2: For IT is not those World Health Organization pick up the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the natural law who will Be declared righteous. (So, when Gentiles, who do non have the law, do by nature things needful past the law, they are a constabulary for themselves, even though they do non have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their Black Maria, their consciences also bearing attestant, and their thoughts sometimes inculpatory them and at other times even defensive them.

. . . though sometimes it is non always unfortunate and white on what is right or wrong. God's laws are codified on our hearts, and the way I see it, it also doesn't hurt to have them likewise written on paper or should I saw stone.

Re: Why Did God Require To Write The 10 Commandments past toneyb: 11:22pm On December 08, 2010

Riveting topic, I have premeditated the evolution of anthropomorphic morality and I can categorically enjoin that humans learn morality, they larn what is good and what is bad from see and they frequently experiment. No more God wrote any commandments to any grouping of human beings on any stone pad. Where exactly is the stone tablet? Some one like me testament corresponding to see such a God's hand writing at the least.

Now to the theme, theist like to take that ethical motive is innate in humans, because god gave us ethical motive an atheistic like me will say that why then do so some people do morally stale things? The theist leave then say because we are sinners and we need idol to tell us what's right.

So which one is it? Is morality congenital in us, or do we need God to enjoin U.S. what's right? And if only what God says is honorable, and then where do the other moral (only wrong) values come from? Commemorate that in history, plenty of terrible things were considered perfectly morally acceptable, including
- Killing children operating room stoning them to decease (Sparta, Old Testament), Sidesplitting of twins in some parts of Nigeria e.g..
- Beating your wife
- Slavery
- Genocide
-Killing others because they worship early Gods
-Racism and segregation
- Killing and eating your enemies(Parts of Australia)

Where did those values come from? Where they innate? If so they must have been given by God, right? And if they are non from God, information technology must mean they came from somewhere other. What is that? And why rear end't ALL moral values pass in the same way? Why does morality differ from culture to culture? Why is morality not accusative?

Ok here's another combined. If moral values are innate, and moral values are from God, why do so many things in the bible inspire our revulsion or repulsion? A short list would be
- Giving the death penalty to kids for disrespecting their parents
- Forcing a ravaged woman to marry her rapist (Moses' law)
- Sleeping with your dad because no former work force were around (Band and his daughters)
- Having thousands of wives and concubines (Solomon)
- Oblation your daughters for pile rape (Lot and his daughters)
- Slavery (end-to-end the bible)
- Mass murder and racial extermination or humorous citizenry because they worshiped separate Gods(throughout the bible)
If our intrinsic moral system finds acts in the Bible (the supposed Wor) repulsive, where does that internal moral system come from? Obviously non God, operating theatre we'd agree with the bible. Why do galore Christians pick and chose what is morally acceptable and what is not even from the bible? Whatsoever body that follows the old testament Laws and moral definitive will personify put in prison, why is that so if such Laws were form Supreme Being?

What are the cardinal commandments?
Can you constitute all of them ready?
How many multitude can do these questions correctly.

The narrative of the ten commandments starts in chapter 19 where Supreme Being arrives in a thunderstorm and Moses goes dormy the mountain for the first time. God tells Moses to keep the rest of the people away – Moses gets a monopoly connected sharp-eared what Graven image has to say.

In Chapter 32 Moses finally brings the tablets of Harlan Fisk Ston down the mountain, written connected both sides.

Grandma Moses apparently takes pregnant care of these God-given tablets of stone. Recovered – no, actually he doesn't. When he sees what the Israelites take in been equal to spell he was au courant the mountain, atomic number 2 throws them down in irritation and breaks them. He then arranges a round of fratricide, in which three thousand work force are killed, and for saving measure God sends a plague upon the survivors.

A quiet interlude takes place in Chapter 33, where Moses makes friends with Deity again.

And then finally it happens: in Chapter 34 Moses cuts two unexampled tablets of stone, goes up Hop on Sinai, and God writes on them "the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest." And this time we are told what they are, and they are expressly identified as the ten commandments.

In reality they are rather curious. They lie of eight of the rules from the middle of Chapter 23, rewritten in a different order, one rule from all the way back in Chapter 13, long earlier the Israelites got anywhere hot Mount Sinai, and one completely recent prescript which hasn't been mentioned before!

All the same, Hegira Chapter 34 is the one and merely home in the bible where the Decalogue are explicitly given.
The Material Ten Commandments

Here then are the Ten Commandments of the Wor (according to the King James Bible).
" Mention thou that which I command thee this day:

   1. behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.    3. Thou shalt throw thee no molten gods.

   4. The banquet of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Heptad years G shalt eat on matzah, arsenic I commanded thee, in the clock of the calendar month Abib: for in the month Abib M camest down from Egypt.

   5. All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy oxen, whether wild ox or sheep, that is young-begetting. But the firstling of an keister thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if M deliver him not, past shalt K break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear earlier me empty.

   6. Half a dozen days thou shalt bring up, just along the seventh solar day thou shalt perch: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

   7. And thou shalt observe the Shavuoth, of the firstfruits of wheat berry harvest time, and the feast of ingathering at the yr's conclusion. Thrice in the year shall all your menchildren come along before the LORD Idol, the God of Israel. For I will ban the nations in front thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt cash in one's chips busy appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

   8. Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the good morning.

   9. The best of the firstfruits of thy land G shalt bring unto the firm of the LORD thy God.

  10. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his get's milk.

And the Nobleman said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I consume made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
And he was on that point with the LORD twoscore days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink H2O. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the decade commandments."

These are the closing ten commandments that were carried in the Ark of the Covenant.
Why are they so different from the first ten commandments that Grandma Moses received?
And wherefore is it that no more one mentions these when they talk of the ten commandments?

before the ten "Thou shall nots" (i.e. the 10 Commandments) that followed courtship.

On that point was no moral code or moral values and so. Morality had non kicked in and IT was no big wheel

because what mattered there then was exclusive what God says (i.e. God's word is law) and His orthodox

Solely Immortal is nifty and the fair shall live, by religion . . .

Now, if ace decided to bite the bullet, to take up one's destiny in one's hand, then . . .

Tail end one have one's cake and eat on it?

How can one add up of good if one has no knowledge of evil and vice versa?

How can one make out good if one has not experienced vile and vice versa?

How can same decode moral if matchless has not been open to evil and vice versa?

The end of running this course in time and undoubtedly will lead to the 10 commandments

God should not be in any tail for the 10 Commandments but rather Adam and Eve should

Adam and Eve threw caution to the scent out.

They miscalculated and their contradictory desires and craving set the concrete for the approach up 10 Commandments

This is what the Lord GOD declares:
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and non of perversive, to feed you an expected end."

The 10 commandments is unrivaled of the gifts exterior of the pandora box Adam and Evening opened

The road that Adam and Eve got off on, led to the 10 commandments

Nothing to do with God. God was only obliging . . .

Lagerwhenindoubt, you put forward the interview "Did God write the 10 Commandments and wherefore would he need to?"

Yes He did, and as a weigh of fact, in a way the 10 commandments is really symbolic

.

Symbolic in the sense that, on one hand IT denotes "The hybridizing" (i.e. trust in Jesus connected the cross and non the law)

and on the other paw it represents "relationships" (i.e. our dealings with God vertically, parents centrally and fellow hands laterally)

Lager' stray your mind hind as farther as to Cain and Abel (i.e. Gen 4:6-7) for ". . . why would

Divinity

he need to?"

Gen 4:6-7 BBE:

6And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your face sad?

7If you do healed, will you not have abide by? and if you fare wrong, wickedness is waiting at the door, desiring to have you, but behave not let it embody your master.

Romans 3:20 BBE:

Because away the whole works of the law nary man is able to suffer righteousness in his eyes, for through the constabulary comes the knowledge of trespass

- Brb - Lights out zzzZZZZ

I'm here cuz I lack JeSoul and I wanna bring down a break from being naughty. Also in that respect's the train of thought.

Going away my skepticism aside, I'd allege the use of the Ten Commandments is in its eternalness. I believe Jews have upwards of six hundred odd laws they keep. Or is it six grand? I forget. The Ten Commandments seem to have this air of 'no matter what happens, or how sophisticated you humans get, these laws can never turn old intentional or unnecessary.' That's a probable reason to me.

It'll never be right (outside of a greater good) to: kill, lie, steal, be covetous, philander etc.

Morality is quite dynamic but not wholly so. Information technology is likewise a rigid thing with absolutes. I enjoyed Toneyb's first military post. Information technology contains similar thoughts to a book I take and agree with.

To JeSoul's

trick

head: Yes! It is non only realistic, it is almost ALWAYS the case. That's why we say things like refined, barbaric, developed. It doesn't mean operative or evil, it just substance morality is evolving. Getting more colourful and richer and with more than nuances. Going back in time, there would be lesser colors till things became black and white. An eye for an eye, that kinda thing. This is regards us though. But in Idol's eyes, it is another can of worms and information technology has shaped my public opinion of Him for better Beaver State for worse.

the question should be, why was god able to write the 10 commandments unto tablets himself but was unable to do same with his hypothetic book, the bible? perchance He was also lazy operating theater he just had a bad case of writer's barricade. i mean, if he was capable to autograph 2 stone tablets for moses with the 10 commandments, why not spend a flake more time and inscribe the whole bible? forthwith wouldn't that have avoided a deal of interpretation disputes? who would throw argued with god? information technology would have been unequivocal and final. and just have in mind the millions of innocents who bear been killed referable false bible interpretations, from the crusades to the alarming Spanish Inquisition. they could all experience been spared if god had spared United States of America a few hours of his prison term. from the cardinal commandment story, IT implies divinity hind end write someone. why stoppag thither? why not run on a second more. atomic number 2 could have engraved the whole bible on backing sinai, permanently incised for all to see, including subsequent generations. too hard?? atleast that would spare christians the continuous task of spending all their lives defending God and proffering their interpretations of god's possible reasons for doing or not doing anything.

guess the nigh logical answer is god didn't drop a line jack because he/she/IT can't read and write. to write he needs hands; to take He needs eyes. much fear crazed forsake nomad ensure freak wrote down this babble systematic to keep control of his aggroup. time to curing aside superstitions and abandon a bronzy age paradigm meant for goat herders and camel breeders.

simply put, god is scarcely a make believe character in a really nonmodern story book. the christain cult is all about money and control or can you christians pls tell me how your devil bottom accomplish then so much when he has zero churches and collects zero dollars nor a percentage of your firmly earned cash? devil = No money at all. Book god theatrical role has 350,000 churches in the The States alone, collecting billions tax free all week. it looks to me like idol necessarily to hire Satan to run his operation. satan obviously gets things done with cardinal dollars. either, 1. god does non exist  Oregon 2. god doesnt give a flying fuk nigh his brain out of play following. which is information technology christards? how far down in the superstitious notion quagmire can your ignorant blind faith take you?

My appreciation for those who stayed astir previous to urinate a contribution. it speaks volumes.

To quote my petulant colleague who nearly dozed off at my desk reading this thread grin

It is a simple matter to hash out too earnestly, wherefore practice you envision kids World Health Organization go to church have a better chance of staying out of fuss than those who brawl non?

I shall dispense with him when he exhibits so much rare moments of presumption grin

@Mudley313 and @mantraa
I used the Christian God and Muslim Allah for popular reasons but for me, it matters non which Religious belief or Faith/Belief-system, all has its Commandments to guide its followers on what is Right and What is Wrong. As much A I'd hate to admit, The "Gods" take up a pervading influence on the Morality of Man, be it Christianity, Islam or Judaism that contempt cultural/social/psychological evolution overflow 1000 yrs, we are still sad-faced with a moral dilemma - is the rise in moral decadence we construe with in today's society as a result of a departure from God's Law or arsenic a result of holding it? it seems we are doomed to moralistic imperfection no matter how enlightened and knowledgeable we become.

@e36991

that the crux of the intact matter had nothing to perform with the mental but rather with faith (i.e. belief)

Please hold that thought. I shall be back in a few transactions

@JeSoul

Can an execute be considered morally wrong by us humankind, but from God's linear perspective, not? or is there is a middle primer coat? operating theater in other words, is our lesson ordered series also the same as God's? Can God warrant a morally misguided action? if yes, why would He? would IT past be even because the order came from God? Parts of the Law/commandments/OT present us with these problems.

I am in correspondence with that; naturally our moral shell is different in character but similar in nature to God's and yes God has sanctioned virtuously evil actions (now that is unsettling) Why would atomic number 2? IT is difficult to fathom the purpose behind his conduct soh i cannot in whol honesty give you an objective answer thereon. but see quote below on why information technology is a trouble for Pine Tree State.

Chronicles 21:15
"And God sent an angle into Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Overlord beheld, and HE REPENTED HIM OF THE EVIL, and said to the angel that destroyed, "It is decent, stay now thine bridge player." And the angel of the Lord stood past the threshing take aback of Ornan the Jebusite."

If I keister admit a God of Absolutes then he cannot atomic number 4 seen to equal hesitant in his disposition to Right and Wrong, If he is Congener so his shipway are non Unchanging. which will negate the construct of his Eternalness. I infer much has changed since the Jesus Souls Repurchase arrangement. grin

@e36991

that the crux of the overall matter had nothing to do with the clean merely rather with faith (i.e. belief)

Interesting, this brings a unweathered perspective to my first thoughts on the issue. God's Commandments represent His Moral Standards (his WILL is Law of nature) and if we are to live according to his will, we must uphold them totally (No slacking or slouching). Later on the Fall of Man, it became a daunting tax to uphold his WILL perfectly so the natural instinctive attractive force to construction personal (individual) and cultural ethics (computer code of ethics and belief systems). I guess we can by and large tall that this has failed (sadly).

Curiously, even among religious folk music, it is much likely to express morally right actions to multitude you feel some kinship with than those you do not and to utilise morals based on situations rather than as a Standard.

It brings me back to my moral quandary, God's Practice of law has not enhanced Man's morals when Humans does not (apparently) have the liver to uphold it. How do we get past this impediment.

Re: Why Did God Need To Write The 10 Commandments past Mudley313: 6:27pm On Dec 10, 2010

check over the video in the link below. the monkeys in IT didn't need a ten commandment or religion to possess attributes of ethical motive

HTTP://news.yahoo.com/video/scientific discipline-15749654/the-science-of-tamper-ethics-23310047

religion is patently just a joyride to manipulate the people. even animals make ethics to an extent and can see what is right hand and what is wrong. OR do you also believe the land is only 10,000 years old? a man lived in a fish for three days? every azygous species E'er created was hauled onto an ark On with information technology's reverse gender? well, and then again, a lady lived in a shoe with equivalent 12 kids, so World Health Organization am I to judge? right Mother Goose?

God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai to help as the moral code of behavior for the Jews. Those are overall laws. You can find a more careful composition of Jewish jurisprudence in Leviticus.
